Testing milk for added water is an important quality control check carried out in dairies worldwide. Adding water to milk increases the freezing point of the milk by a fraction of a degree. This is measured using a machine called a Cryoscope which can detect added water in milk with precision down to a thousandth of a degree Celsius.
CRYOSTAR
The Funke Gerber CryoStar is a highly accurate and reliable Cryoscope. The CryoStar uses FPD (Freezing Point Determination) to find the plateau as prescribed in the ISO/IDF/DIN 5764 standard for measuring water in milk. The 4 decimal place accuracy of the CryoStar gives excellent repeatability and ultimately confidence in the instruments results.
The CryoStar 1 has a single measuring chamber whilst the CryoStar Automatic comes with a carousel and can be set up to measure 12 samples. Typically 30 samples per hour can be measured on the CryoStar 1. Both instruments are supplied with a printer for hard copy results, software to allow PC connectivity and have a large colour screen which displays a graph of time against temperature as it seeks the plateau. We offer full training as standard as well as servicing and calibration.
